Topics: Google Universal Analytics has come to an end and there remains a limited time during which the data collected so far will still be available in the tool. Beyond pure fear of loss, there may also be valid reasons why one would want to have something in hand after the permanent loss of access. There are various strategies for this: using tools or building something oneself, planning individual report requirements, retrieving data, storing it sensibly, and making it analyzable. We will explore a few corresponding solutions and services, discuss the advantages and disadvantages, talk about raw data vs. aggregated data, and play around with the API as long as it is still functional. Using R, exemplary reports are exported from Universal Analytics and stored in Google Drive. Then we'll see together what can still be done with the data in Looker Studio - and what cannot.
