Hi PyLadies Berlin! We have organized an online sprint to help folks start contributing to the open-source project SciPy ๐Ÿฅณ

SciPy is a collection of mathematical algorithms and convenience functions built on NumPy. It adds significant power to Python by providing the user with high-level commands and classes for manipulating and visualizing data.

During the sprint, you will have the opportunity to work on issues for the SciPy project, learn more about the project, and get support from maintainers and coaches.

To get the most from this event you will need to have some understanding of GitHub, git, and Python but do not need to be an expert. Some knowledge of SciPy and Datascience will help you but is not essential.

๐Ÿšจ Before the Sprint:

Look through the SciPy Contributing documentation

The following documentation will help you set up and build a local development environment:

We will have two SciPy maintainers supporting the sprint โœจ

๐ŸŒŸ Melissa is a Senior DevEx Engineer at Quansight. She is a NumPy and SciPy maintainer, focusing on documentation, contributor experience, and DEI work.

๐ŸŒŸ Kai is a software developer at BHP. He enjoys being a part of the free and open-source community and helping others get into technology. Kai mentors at SheCodes (Aus) and he leads the Python WA Meetup group.

๐ŸŒŸ Lucas is a student at the University of Oxford who began contributing to open source this year. He is a SciPy contributor who recently interned at Quansight, working on array library interoperability.
