Apache Iceberg is taking the data world by storm, promising to free us from vendor lock-in and enticing us with promises of the Lakehouse. Let's talk about what Iceberg is, why it's being hyped and how we can work with it from a Python perspective

In this session, we'll dive into Data Lakes, getting some fundamentals in what they are and how they work. Then we'll dive into Apache Iceberg, how it changes the Data Lake game. We'll work through doing analytics on the data, starting with a local Dockerized example moving to a full AWS setup using AWS Athena and Glue. There may be ducks involved ;-)
