Get ready for Devcon, the Ethereum conference for developers, thinkers, and makers, with us! For October, we're excited to bring you an Ethereum meetup focussing on selected teams and people that aim to make your Devcon experience extra special.

This evening will include some live testing action with an exclusive preview on the Q&A app which will be used at Devcon for speaker interactions. On top of the content of course there will also be time to hang out, get to know fellow Ethereum enthusiasts, exchange your travel plans and get excited for the upcoming Devcon over a drink or two. See you all there!

From Berlin to Bangkok - Devcon Warmup

The first Berlin Ethereum meetup of this meetup group took place on August 19th, 2014, as an "Ethereum Development Workshop" (see the event here)

There was an even earlier one, on July 4th, 2014, that was not listed in this meetup group yet. Anyway, it’s safe to say the Berlin Ethereum meetup has been running for 10 years now!

We want to celebrate this little moment of Ethereum history by hosting a special meetup edition, inviting significant people from Ethereum's past and present to reflect on the last 10 years and walk down memory lane with us.

Join us at c-base space station for a nice time and talks highlighting personal stories, discussing Ethereum's history, key moments, learnings, insights, and future visions.

We’re excited to have some of the best people in the Berlin Ethereum ecosystem on stage for this special evening:

Looking forward to welcoming many new and old faces for this special occasion!

Huge thanks to CV Labs for hosting the meetup!

CV Labs, a Web3 Ecosystem with locations in Zug (CH), Vaduz, Cape Town, Berlin and Lisbon helps global start-ups, corporates, and investors to leverage blockchain technology. CV Labs offers networking events, co- working spaces, a web3 accelerator program and funding.

Kudos to our sponsor Lisk!

Lisk provides a cost-efficient, fast, and scalable Layer 2 (L2) network that is secured by Ethereum. As a long-standing Web3 infrastructure project, Lisk has been democratizing blockchain accessibility for developers and end users globally since 2016. Its core focus is to solve local problems in Emerging Markets by bringing solutions around real-world assets (RWA), off-chain assets (OCA), and DePIN onchain. As a member of the Optimism Superchain Lisk is contributing to onboarding the next 1 billion people to Web3.

Thanks to Solana for meetup contribution and support!

Solana is a Layer-1 blockchain optimized for scalability. The network's design goal is to provide a platform that allows developers to create applications without needing to work around performance bottlenecks, such as transaction throughput limitations and prohibitively expensive transaction fees.

Superteam is a global community of Web3 builders who are passionate about Solana. Their mission? To empower talents in the Web3 space by providing them with opportunities to learn, earn, and connect with the Solana ecosystem.

➡️ Philipp Giese – Browserless E2E Testing with Remix You want to test your applications end-to-end, but you don't want them to become flaky and take much longer because they run in the browser? Remix has got you covered!

➡️ Artem Pavlov – NodeJS 20 has a Test Runner. How to Use it and Shall We? Native testing tools are an important part of any modern programming language ecosystem. Starting from version 20, NodeJS provides such a tool. Though not all of the frontend libraries and solutions are ready to support it.Throughout the presentation, we will see the challenges that a programmer will encounter when deciding to migrate all their unit-tests to the built-in test runner, and how to address these issues.

React Berlin Meetup: Browserless E2E Testing with Remix & more

This is our September meetup at the end of Berlin Blockchain week 2023.

Talks:

  • Joshua Dávila - How to radically build in crypto - Over the last decade\, blockchains and crypto have opened up a new terrain for radical action. It is not surprising\, however\, that the crypto space has also become overrun by unscrupulous marketing\, theft and scams. The problem is real\, but it isn’t a new one. One of the major reasons is the way in which blockchain / crypto are framed through representational models of old models imposed on a new medium. This has been detrimental to the development of the technology and made it easily co-opted by nefarious forces. In this talk Joshua will talk about how this has happened\, how to recognize it\, and some proposals for what needs to be built to work against the current trends\, some of which are covered in his book Blockchain Radicals.
  • Ori Shimony (dOrg) - New Directions for Mechanism Design description - Exploring new methodologies\, use-cases\, and experiments for solving coordination problems through cryptoeconomics
  • Juan Caballero (C.A.S.A.) - Lightning intro to Chain Agnostic Standards Alliance and the politics of non-monetary technical coordination channels

  • Alberto Granzotto (SDP) - Dark games for a bright future - Social Dist0rtion Protocol (SDP)\, a collective from the year 2055\, has been developing games on the EVM since minus three decades. Our games have been played by hundreds of people at events like CCC\, DevCon\, and EthBerlin. Let's dive into our games and explore what worked and what didn't. (We also have some pro tips on how to upcycle a gnosis safe.)

After the talks we will have a fishbowl style fireside chat with all speakers and members of the Department of Decentralisation.
