Session details: The DAX Speed Blueprint: Locate, Understand, Accelerate - Joe Billingham Slow performing Power BI reports and visuals are a major cause of frustration. Finding the cause of these slow-downs and understanding why they are happening are the first steps in resolving them. In this session we'll discuss the troubleshooting steps for slow DAX executions, using tools like Performance Analyser and DAX Studio. We'll cover the different purposes behind the two parts of the DAX engine - Storage and Formula, and how to write expressions that target each individual component, allowing us to utilise their combined power to unlock the full potential of DAX. We'll see how optimising expressions in order to harness the power of these engines helps increase performance. This will be done using live demonstrations showing the actual difference in executions times as well as exploring query plans. By the end of this session, you will know how to identify which DAX expressions are causing issues in your reports, you'll have a solid understanding of what the DAX engine consists of, how the parts work together and how to use them to your advantage to make your expressions faster and more efficient. Session Details: Data Lakes, Lakehouses, Data Warehouses, Data Integration pipelines, notebooks and much more. Data is transformed, stored and reported using more and more technologies. For us as data professionials it is not easy to gain an overview about your data (analytics) landscape. With Microsoft Purview data catalog, we got a tool to do the inventory of your data landscape, classify data and track lineage. With Microsoft Fabric, we got an integrated SaaS analytics platform that contains (almost) everything: Data integration, data storage, data lake houses and warehouses and integrated Power BI reporting. How does this approach change in context of data cataloguing? How can we benefit from the integrated approach to get a better understanding of what happens to our data? Join this session to learn more about the concepts of a data catalog, how Microsoft Purview implements this and how Data Governance and Microsoft Fabric work better together.

Speaker Bio: Wolfgang Strasser, an experienced data consultant at ACP CUBIDO in Austria, specializes in leveraging the Microsoft Data Platform to drive analytics and data strategy transformations. With extensive experience in SQL Server, Azure Data Services, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric, Wolfgang has established himself as a key resource for businesses aiming to optimize their data processes.

Session Description: Kusto (and the Azure Data Explorer) is leveraging the possibility to report on live data from ex. telemetry, IoT devices, logs etc. the Kusto query language in itself is not that hard to understand and use, but there is some key takeaways and good things to know when starting to do analytics on the data using Power BI.

In this session I'll cover the ultimate power between Power BI and Kusto and show how the data from the Kusto cluster can be leveraged into Power BI, build a data model and show how we can help Power BI use the data correctly. Power BI needs a bit of help to give good performance when working with Kusto.

Kusto-wise this is a level 100, Power BI data model wise a level 200. The session is on a level where everyone can follow along, and use the shown methods directly in their daily work when they come home.
