DuPSUG – Spring 2026 🐰🥚

This is 100% non-profit. The 15€ sign up fee for everyone is only to minimize last-minute cancellations. The total sum goes to a bar-tap that everyone can use to order drinks until the amount is used up. ‼️NO REFUNDS‼️

‼️Please don't just show up without RSVPing here and paying the 15€. We have a separate room that has limited capacity and a specific drinks agreement with the bar - so splitting up the bill won't become a mess.‼️

Small update on how your money get's used from May 2024 onwards: As of this month, meetup.com has started charging me 34€ instead of 16€ per month. I've decided to distribute this fee evenly among all us participants every month. Example: In the last 12 meetups, the average number of attendees was 17. With 17 attendees I would effectively collect 230€ (after fees). I would now substract 34€ leaving us with 196€ that go to the bar. 15% get's tipped to the wait staff, in this case 30€, leaving us with 166€ effectively to order drinks. Hope everyone is cool with this system. :)

A new year a new meetup ! And this time we go south, for the second time we go the friendly folks at ASML. This meetup will all about "How to scale without limits". How do you bring the cloud like mindset to on prem and hybrid workloads and how do you bridge the gap between them, how can you make sure that your company has the capability to scale without limits ?

You can also visit the experience center of ASML which will be open just for us!

The program will go as this:

  • 17:00-18:00 Walk-in
  • 18:00-18:05 Welcome
  • 18:05-18:50 1st Talk: Sjuul Jannsen and Thomas Reichel (ASML) Infrastructure Orginization that scales
  • 18:50-19:30 Pizzas
  • 19:30-20:15 2nd Talk: Laura Dragan (Dell): Architect for change and failure, because both are guaranteed
  • 20:15 - 21:30 Networking & drinks and ASML Experience center tour
  • 21:30 End

1st Talk: Title: Infrastructure Organization that scales

Infrastructure Organization that scales: what paradigms (Infrastructure as Code, Platform Engineering, API first) and what mindset do you need for your infrastrucutre to scale ? What makes the AWS, Google, the hyper scaler seem to scale their infrastructure without friction whilst many companies seem to struggle on this and revert to a more human centric approach. What are the stragegies at play and what are the benefits of both and what's a way forward.

Speaker: Sjuul Jannsen is a developer & team architect that is not afraid for a challenge, in face of struggle Sjuul Jannsen tries to ask why are we doing this and how can we improve the organisation ? Together with Thomas Reichel who is a Enterprise Architect they are on a mission to change how ASML thinks about infrastructure.

2nd Talk: Title: Architect for change and failure, because both are guaranteed

Description: When we design modern platforms, escpecially in envorioments as complex at ASML, we cannot assume stability or permanence. New workloads appear. Teams scale. Hardware evolves. Vendors shift direction. And things break sometime at the worst possible moment. How do you design a system that copes with this from the get go ?

Speaker: Laura Dragen is a cloud architect at Dell, she worked at Google before joing Dell where she was a part of their AI divsion before the AI boom.

Photography/Video consent: We will be taking photos and videos during the event and will use these photos and videos for social media and promotional materials. By coming to the meet-up, you give us your consent to take photos and videos of you.

Code of Conduct: All members are required to agree with the Berlin Code of Conduct.

Stay in touch: Please get in touch on the CNCF #netherlands slack channel for any questions (we're also looking for co-organizers, especially in other cities). Please also don't forget to join the official CNCF community here

Directions: Go to reception of building 7! Don't forget to bring identification (id-card, passport, driving license) as you will be checked upon entry of ASML premise.

Parking: Parking is available on site on P1 parking. Please send us the plate in advance.

PyLadies Conference Watch Party!

PBerg engineers - monthly meetup

⭐ NOTE THE NEW LOCATION! ⭐

The Creative Code Jam is a monthly gathering of artists, makers, designers, illustrators, coders, musicians, performers, learners and anyone interested in the use of computing skills for artistic expression. The event is free and open to all, regardless of age, origin, gender or experience. The jam is an opportunity to meet likeminded people and get creative together in a relaxed and safe environment. Beginners and first-timers should feel especially welcome!

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT? Bring a laptop and/or anything you’d like to work on, whether it’s a personal project, an experiment, or a skill you want to learn. You can come with friends or meet new people here. There’s no set agenda: some people code, some sketch ideas, some collaborate, and others just chat and get inspired.

SCHEDULE Doors open at noon, then we’ll have quick introductions so everyone can share what they’re planning to work on. Note: arriving on time is the best way to hear what others are up to ;) Around 6 pm, we gather to share what we’ve worked on during the day.

BEGINNERS WELCOME! If you’re new to creative coding, we'll be happy to help you get started, and you can find beginner-friendly resources at creativecode.berlin/learn.

THIS IS YOUR SPACE We do our best to create a welcoming environment for all people regardless of race, ethnicity, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or genetics. People from group generally underrepresented in open-source, art, and technology fields are warmly encouraged to come by. And if you know someone who might enjoy this meetup but isn’t sure it’s for them, let them know they’ll be welcome!

SAFE SPACE POLICY We support the Berlin Code of Conduct: https://berlincodeofconduct.org/ Please make sure you agree with its content.

ABOUT MotionLab.Berlin MotionLab.Berlin is Germany’s premier Innovation Hub & Makerspace – an ecosystem for Hardtech, art, creativity, and entrepreneurship. They are an international community with access to state-of-the-art machinery, prototyping machines, coworking spaces, offices, and production facilities. More info: https://motionlab.berlin/

ACCESSIBILITY MotionLab is located on the ground floor, with bathrooms on that same level, although unfortunately they are too small for wheelchairs.

FOOD MotionLab has drinks and snacks for sale. Bio food can be found on LPG at Bouchéstr (\~200m). Their cantine has vegan, vegetarian and other food options at least until 2pm.

DO I NEED TO SPEAK GERMAN? We speak mostly English so international guests are more than welcome! Our team also speaks French, Turkish, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Finnish and German... though language availability may vary depending on which organizers are present :)
