Title & Speakers Event

The first Berlin Ethereum meetup of this meetup group took place on August 19th, 2014, as an "Ethereum Development Workshop" (see the event here)

There was an even earlier one, on July 4th, 2014, that was not listed in this meetup group yet. Anyway, it’s safe to say the Berlin Ethereum meetup has been running for 10 years now!

We want to celebrate this little moment of Ethereum history by hosting a special meetup edition, inviting significant people from Ethereum's past and present to reflect on the last 10 years and walk down memory lane with us.

Join us at c-base space station for a nice time and talks highlighting personal stories, discussing Ethereum's history, key moments, learnings, insights, and future visions.

We’re excited to have some of the best people in the Berlin Ethereum ecosystem on stage for this special evening:

Looking forward to welcoming many new and old faces for this special occasion!

Co-hosted by the Department of Decentralization

Gnosis Berlin Meetup

This is our September meetup at the end of Berlin Blockchain week 2023.

Talks:

  • Joshua Dávila - How to radically build in crypto - Over the last decade\, blockchains and crypto have opened up a new terrain for radical action. It is not surprising\, however\, that the crypto space has also become overrun by unscrupulous marketing\, theft and scams. The problem is real\, but it isn’t a new one. One of the major reasons is the way in which blockchain / crypto are framed through representational models of old models imposed on a new medium. This has been detrimental to the development of the technology and made it easily co-opted by nefarious forces. In this talk Joshua will talk about how this has happened\, how to recognize it\, and some proposals for what needs to be built to work against the current trends\, some of which are covered in his book Blockchain Radicals.
  • Ori Shimony (dOrg) - New Directions for Mechanism Design description - Exploring new methodologies\, use-cases\, and experiments for solving coordination problems through cryptoeconomics
  • Juan Caballero (C.A.S.A.) - Lightning intro to Chain Agnostic Standards Alliance and the politics of non-monetary technical coordination channels

  • Alberto Granzotto (SDP) - Dark games for a bright future - Social Dist0rtion Protocol (SDP)\, a collective from the year 2055\, has been developing games on the EVM since minus three decades. Our games have been played by hundreds of people at events like CCC\, DevCon\, and EthBerlin. Let's dive into our games and explore what worked and what didn't. (We also have some pro tips on how to upcycle a gnosis safe.)

After the talks we will have a fishbowl style fireside chat with all speakers and members of the Department of Decentralisation.
