Smarter Context, Safer Code: Graphs and AI in Action
2025-11-19 ยท 18:00
We're excited to invite you to our next Meetup, co-hosted with the London Java Community! Join fellow graph enthusiasts, Neo4j developers, and members of the Java community as we explore how graphs, knowledge graphs, and context engineering can unlock smarter applications and better answers. Weโll also uncover how AI-generated code can be weaponized, exposing hidden vulnerabilities in the software we trust. Whether youโre curious about building with graph-powered AI or safeguarding your projects from new threats, this meetup will give you insights you can put into practice. Session 1: Black Friday Brilliance: Managing a Billion Transactions with Tech, Tactics, and Teamwork by Jamie Colmans The Black Friday and Cyber Monday period is one of the busiest times in the retail calendar, both in stores and online, and here at Loqate our customers rely on our infrastructure to support their businesses at this crucial time. Over the four-day BFCM period in 2023 we processed over 1 billion requests to our APIs, and we managed this with greater than 99.99% availability! We've seen our request volume increase over 100x in the last 10 years, and managing this requires the right technologies, careful planning, and a great team of people. With insightful commentary from a cross-section of our brilliant Dev team, Iโll talk you through how we scale our infrastructure to support these increases in traffic, and some of the technologies and processes we use. Iโll also give some insights into how the team works together over this busy period to keep everything running smoothly. Session 2: WhatsThat? Using graphs and AI to make sense of your friends WhatsApp group by Martin O'Hanlon Communication, messaging, and memory are complicated. How are you supposed to keep up with it all? It's difficult for you to keep up with the constant stream of messages you get. How can we expect an LLM to do the same? Let's look at how we can use graphs and AI to summarise the complex streams of messages you get in that oddly titled WhatsApp group. We look forward to connecting with the community to exchange ideas on graphs, tech, and AI - join the discussion! |

Using Hugging Face's smolagents framework to create a Fantasy Premier League AI Agent - Geir Freysson How do you ground AI agents in real-world data so they donโt hallucinate? This talk shows how I built a Fantasy Premier League agent using Hugging Faceโs smolagents - a minimal, \~1,000-line framework. It connects directly to structured FPL data to give accurate, context-aware answers. Even if football isnโt your thing, itโs a practical talk of how to expose real data to LLMs and build useful agents without heavy infrastructure. The agent is at fpl.withrobots.ai and the source-code for the agent template so you can build your own is at https://github.com/geirfreysson/smolagents-template 2. No More Boilerplate: Data-Driven Testing Made Easy - Antonio Feregrino Learn how to streamline that process using PyTest fixtures. Weโll look at a fixture-based approach to reading test data across multiple formats (JSON, CSV, YAML, JSONL, plain text), and how it can make your tests cleaner, more maintainable, and easier to scale. Iโll also introduce a decorator that lets you parametrise tests directly from data files, enabling true data-driven testing without the clutter. โก Lightning Talks

Where and When?
Talk 1: AI, Made Human: What You Really Need to Know (Azahara Corrales, Digital Transformation Leader) In a world where AI can feel distant, overwhelming, or even threatening, this talk brings it back to the human level. Azahara Corrales breaks down what AI really is (and isnโt), and shows how anyone, regardless of background, can start using it today to improve productivity, creativity, and confidence. It's not about replacing humans; itโs about empowering them. We're excited to invite you to Graph Minds: Exploring Agentic Memory and Self-Improving AI, a special meetup co-hosted with the London Java Community at Microsoft Reactor! Join fellow graph enthusiasts, Neo4j developers and members of the Java community as we dive into cutting-edge topics like composable agentic memory and building self-improving AI agents with graph-based architectures. Letโs connect, learn, and explore how graphs are powering the next generation of intelligent systems. Session 1: Title: Building Self-Improving AI Agents with MCP and Graph-Based Memory Speaker: Opemipo Disu, Latitude Abstract: Autonomous AI agents are becoming more capable by the day, but how do we enable them to learn from experience and continuously evolve? In this talk, we'll explore how to build self-improving AI agents using the MCP (Memory-Cognition-Planning) architecture, integrated with Latitude to represent and reason over long-term memory. Youโll see how graphs can provide structured memory storage for agentic systems, support retrieval-augmented generation (GraphRAG), and facilitate feedback loops that help agents adapt to new environments and goals. Expect a live demo and actionable insights for building smarter, more context-aware AI systems. Session 2: Title: Composable Agentic Memory - from Local State to Institutional Knowledge Speaker: Andreas Kollegger, Neo4j |

Meetup #6 - The Right (AI) Tool For The Job
2025-05-29 ยท 17:00
AI for the rest of us is on a mission to make AI easier to understand. AI is ready for everyone. No matter who you are. No matter what your role. We promise no hype, no jargon and no confusing terminology. We're a warm and inclusive community where we meet you where you are, and help get you where you want to be! Join us for our next in-person meetup in London on Thursday May 29th At this event we take a look at the challenge "how do we choose the right tool for the job?" as businesses and as individuals. We'll hear from Cien Solon (Launch Lemonade) about modular and unified architectures for AI. Then we welcome Kyle Balmer (Prompt Entrepreneur) who will share the tools he uses every day and the opportunity he see's for people who embrace change with AI. Where and When?
Talk 1: Modular vs Unified: Rethinking Knowledge Architecture for AI - Cien Solon (Founder, Launch Lemonade) As businesses rush to embed AI into every workflow, a crucial question is emerging: should we build one unified knowledgebase, or embrace a modular, micro-knowledge approach? Talk 2: Choosing the right tool for the job... When to use AI and when to avoid it - Kyle Balmer (Prompt Entrepreneur) Which AI tools does a "Prompt Entrepreneur" rely on every day? How can we all get more from these tools? And, importantly, what tasks does an AI expert never give to AI? Code of Conduct This event has a code of conduct that you can review here. |

Agenda 06:30pm - Doors open, food and drink served 07:00pm - Welcome 07:05pm - Chaitanya Pathak, Leads by Analyttica "The Evolution of Reasoning from System 1 to System 2 Thinking in Large Language Models (LLMs)" The shift from System 1 to System 2 thinking is essential in overcoming some of the inherent limitations of current LLMs, such as susceptibility to bias, overgeneralization, and errors in complex tasks that require nuanced understanding or multi-step reasoning. In this session, we will explore how LLMs are transitioning to more sophisticated forms of reasoning, including how they handle ambiguous queries, adapt to novel contexts, and generate more thoughtful, context-aware responses. 07:45pm - Break 08:00pm - Ben Gamble, Ververica "Scaling AI workloads with Flink." Benโs talk will run though why Flink is a great tool for handling AI powered services and especially Agentic systems. He will talk about data, events, and semantics. 08:40 - Damien Jade Duff, Daemon "Beyond multi-agent systems: well-designed AI systems delivering value" Multi-agent systems are currently trending and they do have their uses and an interesting future, but equally they are being thrown with little thought at problems for which modern AI approaches that have been carefully designed and well-tested. Here I give our experience of use cases where we have used good practice and wit to orchestrate LLMs for use cases around knowledge distillation, data extraction, and controllable customer-facing solutions. 09:00pm - Wrap up, drinks at Angel London Our hosts may require that we provide a list of all attendees, please ensure that you register with a name that matches your government issued ID or bank card: if you do not we cannot guarantee you entry to the building.
