Please do not message members without their consent If you encounter an issue, please mail [email protected] or [email protected] ==== π Agendaπ ===== 6:30 - 7:00pm: Arrival, Food & Refreshments 7:00pm: Talks Start π£οΈ JosΓ© AgustΓn de la Puente - How Go Compiles It's easy to forget what happens when you run a compiler β and be unaware of what's happening under the hood and the trade-offs you're implicitly making. It can also be intimidating to get into it because there's many moving parts: symbol tables, linking, a bunch of arcane utilities like nm and ldd, and more. In this talk, my objective is to take you from no knowledge of how Go compiles to being confident to talk about and work on these problems. I'll give a high-level overview of: - What is Go's compilation process with code examples - How you can use Unix utilities to examine binary outputs - What is static and dynamic linking\, and what are their trade-offs π£οΈ Yegor Stepanov - ParaGopher: A 2D Arcade Game ParaGopher is a retro-style arcade game written in Go using Ebitengine. Inspired by the classic Paratrooper IBM PC game (1982), the game allows the player to control a turret that must defend the base against incoming paratroopers. I played Paratrooper a ton back when I was a kid, and stumbling across Ebitengine brought all those memories rushing back. So I went ahead and made my own nostalgia-fueled simple version of it and pretty excited to share it with the community. \~8:30 - 9:00pm: Closing and Head to the Pub ==== π‘ RSVP Details π‘ ===== When submitting your RSVP for this event, please be sure to use your full first and last name, as some of our venues require these in order to let you in on the door.
