Session details: From Raw to Refined: Building Production Data Pipelines That Scale - Pradeep Kalluri Every organization needs to move data from source systems to analytics platforms, but most teams struggle with reliability at scale. In this talk, I'll share the three-zone architecture pattern I use to build production data pipelines that process terabytes daily while maintaining data quality and operational simplicity.

You'll learn: - Why the traditional "single pipeline" approach breaks at scale - How to structure pipelines using Raw\, Curated\, and Refined zones - Practical patterns for handling batch and streaming data with Kafka and Spark - Real incidents and lessons learned from production systems - Tools and technologies that work (PySpark\, Airflow\, Snowflake)

This isn't theory—it's battle-tested patterns from years of building data platforms. Whether you're designing your first data pipeline or scaling an existing platform, you'll walk away with actionable techniques you can apply immediately.

Speaker: Pradeep Kalluri Data Engineer \| NatWest \| Building Scalable Data Platforms Data Engineer with 3+ years of experience building production data platforms at NatWest, Accenture, and Capgemini. Specialized in cloud-native architectures, real-time processing with Kafka and Spark, and data quality frameworks. Published technical writer on Medium, sharing practical lessons from production systems. Passionate about making data platforms reliable and trustworthy.

Event details 📆 Date: Tuesday 13th January 2026 ⏰ Time: 2:00 – 4:00 PM GMT / 09:00 – 11:00 AM EST. 💡 Topic: Optimizing EV Charging Stations: A Live Code-Along in Zerve 🗣️ Speakers: Greg Michaelson and Jason Hillary

Join Greg Michaelson and Jason Hillary for a fully interactive, hands-on code-along where you’ll build an end-to-end optimization project from scratch using Zerve’s new notebook view. You’ll write code with us step by step, ask questions as you go, and learn how to model a synthetic city, generate EV charging demand, define an optimization objective, and use heuristic search to place charging stations efficiently.

This session is designed for active participation: follow along, experiment, and get real-time guidance from two experienced PhD data scientists. Everyone who attends gets free Zerve credits so you can continue exploring and applying these techniques long after the workshop.

Key takeaways from attending this event:

  • How to translate a real-world planning problem into an optimization objective (for example, constructing a weighted distance function and defining constraints like service radius.)
  • How to implement and iterate on heuristic optimization methods (such as k-medoids–style search) to improve facility placement without relying on packaged solvers.
  • How to build and visualize an end-to-end optimization workflow in Zerve, including generating synthetic spatial data, evaluating solutions, and comparing baseline vs optimized layouts.

Please sign up for Zerve at https://www.zerve.ai/?utm_source=dsf-jan26 as this is the platform we’ll be using during the code-along. We’ll provide you with additional free credits at the session.

Important note Google Maps currently incorrectly pins the location around the corner on Crosby Street. The entrance is not on Crosby. The entrance is on Spring Street, inside the Marc Jacobs International building. It is roughly halfway between Crosby and Lafayette, almost directly across Spring Street from the Chipotle restaurant.

Description This presentation provides a snapshot of XR social accessibility at the beginning of 2026, examining where the industry currently stands through Meta Horizon Worlds and the Quest ecosystem. We explore three interconnected layers:

  • Quest headset accessibility screen reader, text-to-speech, color correction, customizable text)
  • How these enable participation in Horizon Worlds social experiences
  • Meta's developer framework addressing five disability categories (vision, hearing, speech, motor, cognition).

This presentation brings together a live presentation with a virtual presentation at the same time. As always, in our work with the A11yVR Meetup we will be open to receiving feedback on how the presentation can be improved for accessibility. If you are unable to join us in the physical space, you will be able to participate through our YouTube stream.

Presenter bio Thomas Logan has spent over twenty years helping organizations design and implement technology solutions that are accessible to people with disabilities. Throughout his career, he has led projects for federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as private sector organizations ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies.

(CS)²AI Online™ Replay: Navigating Vulnerability Disclosures in an ICS Environment, a BADALLOC Case Study

Based on a real world event, this forum will share their personal thoughts and experiences when a supplier discovered and disclosed a vulnerability within an operating system (RTOS). We will explore the evaluation from initial RTOS risk rating to OEM evaluation techniques and messaging of recommendation to end ICS users. We will review evaluation of a vulnerability with no known exploits and discuss how tomorrow's threat landscape is going to require deep and detailed forensics, with a strong vendor/OEM partnership to provide guidance to end-users.

With the increasing connectivity of industrial systems comes the benefits of productivity, operational efficiency and process control. This connectivity also creates potential opportunity for cyber criminals to gain access to critical infrastructure systems and industrial control systems (ICS).

Safeguards against this increasing threat landscape include people, process and technical controls to mitigate and balance the risk against reliability, availability and maintainability of the asset. A key tenant to this equation is vulnerability / incident response for the ICS environment where “patching” is not as common as IT systems and at times, not an immediate option for technical or procedural reasons.

SQL Index Explained 2025-12-16 · 16:30

Visit the lecture on December 16th and learn everything you wanted to know about SQL indexes, because their proper application often speeds up queries by more than 99.9%. And don't worry - we will do absolutely everything using existing visual tools for managing MSSQL, so knowing SQL syntax is not a requirement for understanding the topic. Reserve your seat in the classroom on time - see you there! (No restrictions for online attendees) Let's demystify SQL indexes:

  • What is an SQL page and why is it so important?
  • The role of SQL indexes in query execution
  • Types of SQL indexes
  • SQL Index row store vs column store
  • SQL index create vs rebuild
  • Maintaining SQL indexes using visualization tools (MSSQL)

(CS)²AI Online™ Symposium: New ICS/OT Cyber Security Technologies

Join us on Wednesday, December 10 for a (CS)²AI Online™ Symposium delving into the latest technologies being used for and against ICS/OT environments, their impacts and implications.

Key questions that will be answered about Digital Twins, Quantum Computing, and AI/ML:

  • What are these technologies?
  • How mature are they?
  • Where are current developments in them leading?
  • How are they helping ICS/OT defenders protect against bad actors?
  • Are bad actors also using them to attack ICS/OT systems? If so, how, and what can we do about that?
