Senior Data Consultant - Capgemini Invent

Jenny is a trustee of Girls in Data and a Senior Data Analytics consultant at Capgemini Invent. She is driven to inspire others, leave a positive impact on the world, and was key last year in getting Girls in Data registered as a charity.

In school, Jenny felt unconvinced with the career paths presented to her. Then she met Sven, an IoT developer, who in just one afternoon sparked curiosity with a world of mysterious technology and data on shoppers in a city centre – a relatable topic that would interest most 16-year-old girls. She had no idea of his job title, let alone the industry or sector, but she knew wanted to do something like that! Girls in Data aims to give young people the same excitement and direction about data, and showcase the diversity of pathways this can lead them to.

Jenny is extremely passionate about sustainability, which is mirrored both in her personal and professional life. She plans to specialise in data driven sustainability solutions with hopes to add her small segment towards saving the world.

The gender disparity in the technology and data sectors is a pressing issue, with women significantly underrepresented in these fields. Research indicates that gender biases and societal stereotypes influence career interests from a very young age, diverting many girls away from STEM-related subjects long before they make crucial educational choices. In this talk, we will explore the data-driven insights that led to the creation of the Girls in Data charity, which is committed to addressing this imbalance by fostering an early interest in data and technology among young girls.

By analysing extensive data on educational choices, societal expectations, and gender representation in tech, we reveal the critical points at which interventions can have the most impact. We will discuss how these findings have shaped our targeted curriculum, designed to inspire, educate, and empower girls to pursue careers in data and technology.

Join us to discover how you can contribute to this mission and learn how your company can partner with Girls in Data to build a more diverse and inclusive future workforce by engaging the next generation of female data professionals.
