Gary Kessler, Ph.D., CISSP, is a retired professor of cybersecurity and a veteran IT and digital forensics practitioner. He serves as president of Gary Kessler Associates, providing maritime cybersecurity research, consulting, and training, and as a principal consultant at Fathom5; he is a non-resident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council and on the advisory board of Cydome, and leads the Cybersecurity Prevention Operations Division of the USCG Auxiliary Cyber Augmentation program (AUXCYBER). His research focuses on the weaponization of AIS/GPS and tools for hacking and spoofing AIS, and he has authored more than 75 papers and spoken at international conferences for over 30 years. He lives in Ormond Beach, Florida, and is a SCUBA instructor with a 50GT captains license.
