VP Data & AI Virgin Atlantic Airways

Richard Masters is Vice President of Data & AI at Virgin Atlantic, where he leads the airline’s data transformation, enterprise data platform, and AI ecosystem. He oversees Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Governance, and Product Development, and sets the airline’s overall AI strategy. With more than 15 years in AI and data product development, he previously held roles at BAE Systems AI (Detica) focusing on technical consulting, graph technologies, and decision intelligence, and led Data Science & Engineering in EY’s Forensics division in the UK. He earned a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Oxford, specializing in complex data analysis and instrumentation.
