🗣️ Presentation #1: We will explore the concepts of a semantic layer and why it has been gaining traction recently. We will talk about why it is a foundation pillar for LLM and finish with a hands-on demo. Speakers bio: Charles is a data architect/engineer and has been working for the last 10 years in different industries before founding his company recently with a focus on providing modern data services. Andrea is Head of Data Engineering at Astrafy, with a background in computer science and a strong track record working at various international companies as a data engineer. 🗣️ Presentation #2: On is a fast-growing sports & lifestyle apparel company, headquarted in Zurich. The tech & data landscape at On is no exception to such growth. The Data Platform Team provides a case study on how to balance excellence and foster innovation across this landscape and how dbt is indispensable in achieving a governed data-driven culture. Speaker bio: Lewis Osborne is a Lead Data Engineer at On, passionate about building robust analytics models and user-friendly BI interfaces. 🗣️Presentation #1: dbt cloud is gaining a lot of traction due to its accessibility and important new data mesh features that facilitate multi projects collaboration. In this talk, we will cover the basics of dbt cloud and the multi-projects collaboration features (dependencies.yml, model versioning, data contracts, etc.). All this will be demoed with the "jaffle shop" repositories. Speakers bio: Andrea is Data geek with a background in computer science and a strong track record at various international companies as a data engineer. David is a data engineer passionate about automation and integrations of popular tools in the market. Currently bringing his DataOps expertise and good practices to the MLOps landscape. --- 🗣️Presentation #2: Data Vault 2.0 is one of the most advanced data modeling techniques and there exists a dbt package in the name of "AutomateDV" to ease its implementation at scale. In this talk with demo, Nawfel and Emmanuel will go over the concepts of Data Vault 2.0 and show a real implementation of Data Vault 2.0 using dbt and "AutomateDV" package. Speaker bio: Nawfel is passionate about data and has recently become an expert in dbt (certified since 2023) and also in Data Vault through an intensive bootcamp with scalefree institution. The major problem with buzzwords is that there are a lot of interpretations around them and this can generate quite some frustration. In case of data mesh, it can also slow down the adoption of this amazing new paradigm. In this session we will demystify the main concepts of data mesh and bring those to life with dbt with concrete data products from Astrafy real data. You can expect to see data mesh in actions in a very pragmatic way as we will cover as well activation of data from those data products by downstream applications (leveraging dbt semantic layer).
