Daniel Weeks works on table formats and open storage at Databricks and was co-founder of Tabular and co-creator of Apache Iceberg, currently focusing on shaping the next generation of cloud-native data warehousing. With over 20 years of experience in designing and developing large-scale distributed systems, Daniel began his journey in big data through research, development, and contributions to open source technologies. Prior to founding Tabular, he led Big Data Compute at Netflix, where he worked on scaling and optimizing cloud-based data processing engines like Spark, Hadoop, Trino, and Druid—core technologies behind Netflix’s data infrastructure.
