Technical Debt is entropy applied to technology. Systems age, standards change, mistakes occur, and updates happen. The moment you buy any technology, you have to maintain it—but since technical failure is often hard to detect until something catastrophic occurs, systems begin to drift away from their initial operating state.

The faster an industry changes, the more quickly technical debt accrues. A farm tractor in the 1960s might still be in service today, because relatively little variance has happened; but a modern, GPS-guided piece of farm equipment needs constant software updates. And IT is changing much more quickly than tractors.

But constant support means rising costs in an organization asked to do more with less. Invest in maintenance and you'll be reliant on outdated systems amidst spiraling expenses; neglect them, and you'll constantly be chasing the new thing while scrambling to repair outages on legacy systems.

What's a savvy CIO to do? In this panel discussion, DM Radion's Eric Kavanagh hathers a panel of experts on digital transformation, AI-infused metamorphosis, and the role emerging technology plays in clearing the clutter of outdated IT stacks.

They see your every move! You know it’s true: Your data is everywhere, the fingerprints of your behavior and movements captured by all manner of apps and devices. Does privacy still exist? The short answer is no, but striving toward it will help mitigate the many risks of inappropriate data access, and that’s really what “privacy” is all about these days! Check out this Fireside Chat with Data Warrior Kent Graziano and DM Radio Host Eric Kavanagh to learn more! They’ll talk about practical methods for designing and managing data governance programs, security protocols and most importantly: responsible behavior!

The core of journalism was trust. For centuries, the cost of a printing press or broadcast license limited who could create news, but the rise of the Internet has turned everyone into a publisher. From fake news to hallucinations, modern journalism faces an existential threat, not only from a flood of unreliable sources but also from motivated actors bent on applying the latest technologies to inflame political polarization.

Is there a way to save the 4th Estate on which democratic society relies? In this talk, DM Radio's Eric Kavanagh suggests that the foundation of every story must be data with a proven, verifiable lineage. The carefully curated fusion of real-world transactional data and generative AI will radically transform the news industry, triggering a much-needed Renaissance in world-class journalism—but only if we use embeddings and open-source code to ensure accountability and transparency.

We're moving into uncharted territories of emerging technologies, poised to revolutionize data science. In this panel discussion, we'll unravel the mysteries of the technological fringes and explore their imminent impact on mainstream adoption.

Our panel of experts will discuss a future where these technologies are ubiquitous, and how to prepare for the transformative shifts in daily life and industry. Let's peer beyond the horizon, contemplating the dawn of a new era in data science and beyond.

Eric Kavanagh, AI Analyst and Syndicated Radio Host, joins us on this #podcast episode of Data Unchained, to talk about what skill sets for future AI jobs he believes companies should be looking for, HPC and enterprise technologies and a lot of these processes creating #datasets.
