Christof Gebhart is responsible for Advanced Vehicle Measurement Technology at BMW, focused on vehicle data acquisition and analytics. He architects fleet-scale telemetry and decision-support systems and, in 2018, launched the Mobile Data Recorder (MDR). MDR ingests high-rate signals from thousands of development vehicles and routes them via Microsoft Azure into scalable, governed pipelines for near-real-time validation of software-defined functions. Deeply integrated with BMW’s "Neue Klasse" E/E architecture, MDR enables secure edge-to-cloud transport, sub-second dashboards, and AI-assisted diagnostics across the BMW prototype fleet.
