IBM System Blue Gene Solution: Hardware Installation and Serviceability

This IBM Redbooks publication is the second book in a series of IBM publications written specifically for the IBM System Blue Gene Solution, Blue Gene/L, which was developed by IBM in collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). This book focuses on the physical installation and hardware maintenance of the system. More specifically, in the first part of the book, we take you through the steps to place the Blue Gene/L racks and bolt them together. Then we explain the process of cabling the various networks on the system. The second half of the book focuses on powering off the system and then powering it back on, preparing the system for service, and replacing some of the parts.

IBM System Blue Gene Solution: Application Development

This IBM Redbooks publication is one in a series of IBM publications written specifically for the IBM System Blue Gene Solution, Blue Gene/L, which was developed by IBM in collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). It provides an overview of the application development environment for Blue Gene/L. This book explains the instances where Blue Gene/L is unique in its programming environment. It does not delve into great depth about the technologies that are commonly used in the supercomputing industry, such as Message Passing Interface (MPI) and Aggregate Remote Memory Copy Interface (ARMCI). References are provided in those instances so you can find more information if desired. Prior to reading this book, you must have a strong background in MPI programming.

Blue Gene/L: Performance Analysis Tools

This IBM Redbooks publication is one in a series of IBM publications written specifically for the IBM System Blue Gene supercomputer, Blue Gene/L, which was developed by IBM in collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). This book provides an overview of the application development performance analysis environment for Blue Gene/L. This book explains some of the tools that are available to do application-level performance analysis. It devotes the majority of its content to Chapter 3, "External Performance Instrumentation Facility" and Chapter 4, "Performance Application Programming Interface."
