How can integrating Backstage, Crossplane and Kyverno create a powerful developer platform? Join Scott Rosenberg to find out how to enhance Backstage’s extensibility with Crossplane’s flexibility.

In this talk, Scott Rosenberg will explore how custom Backstage plugins can bridge the gap between user-friendly interfaces and the robust orchestration capabilities of Crossplane. Join to learn:

- How to build a self-maintained\, dynamically updated service catalog that evolves with your infrastructure\, serving as a centralized hub for services and resources - How to make Backstage useful for day 2 operations and for providing end user feedback using tools like Kyverno. - How to deliver a streamlined developer experience\, with policy enforcement and use feedback powered by Kyverno.

After a 30-minute talk there’ll be a 15-minute Q&A, for which we encourage you to submit questions in advance. A webinar recording and related materials will be shared with all attendees after the event.

Disclaimer: We use Zoom for the webinar stream. The link to the webinar will be sent upon your registration to your email.

In this webinar, Scott Rosenberg will break down how to build and run successful Internal Developer Platforms while ensuring the effective onboarding and management of on-prem environments. As too often the enterprises with the most opportunity for the efficiency gains of platform engineering, are held back by the complicated nature of their legacy systems. Scott will examine how you can still ensure an effective platform without needing to rely purely on new and easy greenfield applications.

In this event you will learn:

  • Why legacy systems and on-prem aren’t the death knell to good platform engineering
  • Why platform engineering must go beyond just the cloud
  • How to navigate complicated legacy setups, while still ensuring great results

Scott Rosenberg, Lead Architect, CTO Office at TeraSky Scott Rosenberg is a VMware Specialist with 5 years of experience managing VMware infrastructures, including ESXi, vCenter, NSX-v/NSX-T, vRealize Automation, and Log Insight. Proficient in scripting with Bash, PowerShell, Perl, and Python, he excels in automation and system optimization. Scott has extensive knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, Windows Server, and Red Hat Linux, with experience in databases like SQL Server, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Neo4j. He is also skilled in tools such as Rundeck, Ansible, and Control-M, delivering reliable IT solutions in diverse environments.

James Codella – Principal Product Manager @ Azure CosmosDB

For today’s Gen-AI apps, fast performance, instant scalability, and cost-effectiveness are more critical than ever. This session will delve into the importance of these factors when building RAG pattern apps while maintaining low costs. We will explore the capabilities of Azure Cosmos DB and its new vector database capabilities using DiskANN, a technology developed by Microsoft Research. With DiskANN, users can achieve low latency, high-recall vector search at any scale. Combined with Azure Cosmos DB’s unique scale-out architecture and instant autoscale, it provides enormous value with a cost profile unmatched by any vector database in the market today. This allows for the development of large-scale applications that are not only powerful and reliable but also economical. Join us and discover how to architect high accuracy, low latency, and cost-effective RAG pattern applications at any scale using Azure Cosmos DB and DiskANN. Regardless of your role, this session will provide valuable insights into bringing this new generation of applications to your business.

Your AI team doesn't need a platform, but a paved ramp sure can help! In this session, Ramiro will discuss the risks of premature platformatization, why Kubernetes is the best tool for AI Infrastructure, and how remote development environments are especially useful when it comes to building paved roads for AI development.

In this talk, Scott will rant about why shift left needs to ship out and introduce shifting down (the new and better version of shift left). He'll discuss how we can empower our platforms (which everyone is already building anyway!) to make decisions developers shouldn’t have to make. By shifting the complexity to our intelligent platform with its nifty gadgets and gizmos - we can offload & automate all the things - such as security scanning policies (defined by security engineers!), generation of manifests, building and rebasing images (built by DevOps!), leverage policy languages and security prioritization frameworks like VEX to make our decisions and much more.
