Tired of the limitations of standard Power BI visuals? Scalable Vector Graphics (SVGs) are a versatile tool for enhancing reports beyond what is possible with the core Power BI visuals.

This session will empower you to harness the full potential of SVGs, starting with a clear exploration of their underlying structure and key features, and demonstrating straightforward methods for seamless integration into your Power BI environment.

Discover how to forge a direct connection between your Power BI data and SVG elements to create insightful sparklines, interactive graphs, and more. We will analyze Microsoft's own implementation of Sparklines within Power BI, extracting valuable lessons in optimizing DAX measures for better performance.

Finally, we will explore how leveraging more advanced SVG elements and techniques can significantly simplify and compact your SVG definitions, leading to cleaner, more maintainable, and performant visuals.

Unlocking New Possibilities: Enhancing Power BI with SVGs | Jake Duddy

In this session, we'll look at translytical task flows, by building a fully functional Sudoku game directly within Power BI. We'll explore how to leverage Microsoft Fabric's SQL backend and Python User Data Functions (UDFs) to create interactive experiences, where your clicks in Power BI dynamically update game states in a database.

Join me for a session on mastering orchestration within Microsoft Fabric. Discover best practices for scheduling and managing your data workflows. We will be talking about native schedulers for items like semantic models, dataflows, notebooks, etc, and why using only these can bring you into specific issues that can be handled more elegantly and efficiently. Explore how to effectively schedule components with multiple dependencies like pipelines and notebooks while addressing common challenges such as dependency control and parametrization. Learn why pipelines are great for managing complex workflows, offering superior control over dependencies and execution. Finally, dive into the power of Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) in tools like Apache Airflow and see how they excel at orchestrating notebooks and why this is a crucial part of orchestration in the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. Whether you’re building pipelines and notebooks or preparing complex reporting solutions with dependencies between semantic models or between Fabric items, this session will equip you with actionable strategies to achieve efficient and scalable orchestration in Microsoft Fabric.

Session 2 - Turbocharging your Power BI report with Power Platform - Neil Rowlands We create an awesome report, share it with users and then think… how can I easily ask my users if this is providing the insight that they want? With Power Platform we can embed a simple canvas app into a Power BI report, store responses securely in Dataverse and use Power Automate to notify report authors. In this session Neil will deliver a whistle-stop tour of environments and solutions, creating Dataverse tables, creating a canvas app and embedding this into a Power BI report plus authoring a simple Power Automate flow.

About Neil Neil is a senior Power Platform and Power BI practitioner who specialises in process digitisation, workflow automation and reporting. Neil is also a highly qualified trainer with 13 Microsoft certifications, including Microsoft Certified Trainer. And he’s one of our very own regular attendees!!

We all look forward to seeing you there!!
