Bala Amavasai is the Chief Technology Officer for Industry at Celebal Technologies, a leading consultancy providing innovative solutions in AI, data analytics, cloud modernization, and digital transformation. Previously, he held senior positions such as Global Technical Director for Manufacturing, Transportation and Logistics at Databricks and Global Head of AI at Stanley Black & Decker. Earlier in his career, Bala was a Senior Scientist at Procter & Gamble, where his work led to the company's first patents on AI in connected products. He holds a Ph.D. in machine learning from the University of Sheffield, UK. Bala was the outgoing Chair of the IEEE SMC Society’s UK and Ireland section and served on the IEEE 70xx standards and certification committee, which focuses on the ethical and safe use of AI.
