System Design Interview Book Review - Chapters 5&6 - IN PERSON
2024-06-02 · 13:00
Join us as we continue our review of the "System Design Interview - Volume 2" book. We will cover the FIFTH and SIXTH chapters. (You don't need to complete either to participate! Just get through what you can). This is the perfect opportunity to learn new skills, exchange ideas with others, explore architecture and tools and deepen your understanding of the system design interview process. The approach we are taking is: 1 - Read the 1st step which explains the problem 2 - Think about your own questions, assumptions and design 3 - Complete the chapter and see what the authors suggested 4 - Compare your and their solutions and think about the trade-off, costs, longevity of the design etc and bring these notes along with any others, to the next discussion. Have your copy of the book and any notes you may have taken with you. ------ This is the review session only. If you want to read-a-long with others, join here: https://www.meetup.com/ladies-of-code-uk/events/300860252/ ------ You can purchase the book here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/System-Design-Interview-Insiders-Guide/dp/1736049119/ PLEASE NOTE, there is a first edition which is very useful but very different. We are reviewing the SECOND edition book. Share with a friend to split the cost or consider making use of your learning budget if you get one. ------ Make sure you have e-mails switched on for this group otherwise you won't receive updates or last minute location change updates. >>>>>> Check your Meetup settings <<<<<< We can't wait to see you there! ------ LOCATION: We will provide a google map link and what3words location on the day. We will be located near the Serpentine Bar and Kitchen. Bring along hats, sunscreen, snacks, masks, blankets, chairs or anything else you need to comfy outside. In the event of bad weather, we will meet at the Mad Bishop and Bear pub, inside Paddington station. |

Last time we discussed our achievements for the year and made new connections. This time, we want to hear how it's going so far! You pay for your own drinks so feel free to order what you like. We're looking forward to seeing you there! LOCATION: The Mad Bishop & Bear, Paddington https://www.madbishopandbear.co.uk -> Upstairs, at Paddington station (all the way up, next to the Costa). Google Maps link: https://goo.gl/maps/D56R9d6JbnfA1Cn68 (I'm not sure what the weather will do in May but we'll definitely aim to be outside once summer is here for sure :D ). *our version of structured networking will involve talking in small groups, discussing any burning questions or topics and then moving onto some pre-defined questions to guide the discussions for example, "what are you looking to do next in your career" or "what has been your best manager experience" or "how have you found working in tech in London". This keeps the conversation flowing and interesting while ensuring everyone can participate. |
