Title & Speakers Event
Tristan – host , Mikkel Dengsøe – co-founder @ SYNQ

Tristan talks with Mikkel Dengsøe, co-founder at SYNQ, to break down what agentic coding looks like in analytics engineering. Mikkel walks through a hands-on project using Cursor, the dbt MCP server, Omni's AI assistant, and Snowflake. They cover where agents shine (staging, unit tests, lineage-aware checks), where they're risky (BI chat for non-experts), and how observability is shifting from dashboards to root-cause explanations. For full show notes and to read 6+ years of back issues of the podcast's companion newsletter, head to https://roundup.getdbt.com. The Analytics Engineering Podcast is sponsored by dbt Labs.

The Analytics Engineering Podcast
Emiel Ackermann – Technical Lead @ Port of Antwerp-Bruges , Nicolas Jonckheere – Lead Analytics Engineer @ Datashift

We’ll start with a walkthrough of the technical setup of dbt at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, in the context of a migration to Databricks. Then we'll dive into how we handle deploying dbt to multiple targets for the duration of the migration. Finally we'll compare both environments with insights from an analytics engineering perspective.

With data teams' growing ambition to build business automation, AI systems, or customer-facing products, we must shift our mindset about data quality. Mechanically applied testing will not be enough; we need a more robust strategy similar to software engineering. In this talk, I outline a new approach to data testing and observability anchored in the ‘Data Products’ concept and walk through the practical implementation of a production-grade analytics system with dbt as the backbone. The learnings will apply to data practitioners using dbt whether they're just getting started or working in a large enterprise.

Bart van Delft – Solutions Architect @ dbt Labs

In this meetup, we’ll dive into the latest tools and ideas we’ve been shipping — what they unlock, how they fit together, and why we built them the way we did. This meetup is designed for builders, thinkers, and tinkerers — folks who want to roll up their sleeves (figuratively), learn from each other, and imagine what’s next for the analytics engineering stack. Whether you’re curious about what’s new, want to see how others are approaching similar problems, or just want to ask hard questions — you’re in the right place.

How to Win Friends and Influence People When Migrating to dbt Introducing new tools into your company's tech stack can be a difficult and sometimes frustrating process. Based on our experiences, we've noticed that analysts and analytics engineers often have different ideas about what constitutes "better", "faster", and "quality" when it comes to data. In this talk, we discuss the do's and don'ts of dbt migration from two different perspectives: that of Marielle, an analytics engineer who introduced dbt and cloud data warehousing to the tech stack of two companies and always believed in their value to data teams, and Eva, a data analyst who initially disliked working with dbt but grew to love it over time. Ultimately, our goal is to help you win friends and influence people with a frictionless migration to dbt or other new tools in your tech stack.

2. Mikkel Dengsøe with

Improving your Data Alerting Workflow Managing the alerting workflow is no easy task as you scale. On the one hand you want to know about issues as they happen but at the same time you don’t want to end up flooded with data alerts that don’t get actioned. In this talk I'll dive into different type of dbt metadata you can surface in alerts such as ownership, importance and root cause analysis that can help you prioritise, resolve and debug issues faster.
