As the year comes to an end, we just want to connect, chat, unwind — or simply enjoy the moment together as friends in a peaceful, festive atmosphere. ✨

We meet right in front of Rotes Rathaus!

Data models are great at predicting patterns - but what about events that have never happened before?

At the October PyData Yerevan meetup, Nikolai Semiachkin will talk about how LLMs and prediction markets can help estimate probabilities for rare, high-impact events.

These updates enable way more first party data access and control with way less code. As my Apple rep told me it’s the way this thing should have been built initially 🤦

Boris Nikolai Konrad – computer scientist, neuroscientist, keynote speaker

🌟 Session Overview 🌟

Session Name: (How) Are We Staying Smarter Than AI? Speaker: Boris Nikolai Konrad Session Description: What opportunities and risks do artificial intelligences hold? This is what computer scientist, neuroscientist, and keynote speaker Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad will explore. He is closely connected to the cutting edge of research and captivates his audience with thrilling insights, posing the provocative question: Will we remain smarter than robots in the future? The reality of what has been depicted in Hollywood science-fiction films for decades looks quite different.

What seemed impossible yesterday is now part of everyday life. Artificial intelligences have become an integral part of our existence. Consider a music playlist suggested by Alexa, smart homes managing energy consumption autonomously, and self-driving cars that learn independently, which, according to Konrad, will soon hit the mass market. And then there's Chat GPT—an impressive and incredibly fascinating evolution. Millions of users interact daily on the Chat GPT website. The domains of learning and knowledge are about to undergo rapid transformation. Will our children still need to memorize vocabulary in the future? This is no longer the music of the future. It's happening here and now! But what comes next? Which promises will initially remain out of reach? The printing press was only invented 500 years ago, and digital media have been revolutionizing our world at breakneck speed for just three decades. The human brain, while not designed for such rapid change, impresses with its enormous plasticity and adaptability. Learning is what defines us.

The triumph of language-based AI will relieve us of certain tasks, making new things possible, such as simultaneous conversation in multiple languages, quick interpretation of texts and data, and programming new software. However, it must not lead to a decline in human learning. On the contrary, people will learn more and better than ever before, thanks to and with AI. Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad is firmly convinced: "Humans can also become smarter by learning from machines or utilizing insights from neuroscience. Whether we are ready to do so will decide if we continue to control computers, or if it will be the other way around.
