New and emerging reporting regulations like CSRD will require many organizations to provide transparency into their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) sustainability progress. This poses a challenge for many companies and means collecting more environmental social and governance data than ever before. Come learn how expanded functionality in Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability, including AI, water, and waste data capabilities can help address these requirements.

--- 🗣️Presentation #1: How to Deliver Data Products Fast With dbt Description: Ever been roped into a project at the last minute and asked to build an end-to-end solution by yesterday? Or you just joined a company and someone asked if you can SELECT * FROM some_ideal_clean_and_pristine.table_that_you_think_exists ? In this talk, I'll be discussing how to build data products fast, based on my general experience working with dbt at an enterprise company and a ludicrously stressful project that I worked on earlier this year. --- 🗣️Presentation #2: Cheater detection: tackling a moving target with data Description: The gaming industry is in constant battle with cheaters. Presto is a widely adopted distributed SQL engine for data lake analytics. With Presto, you can perform ad hoc querying of data in place, which helps solve challenges around time to discover and the amount of time it takes to do ad hoc analysis. Additionally, new features like the disaggregated coordinator, Presto-on-Spark, scan optimizations, a reusable native engine, and a Pinot connector enable added benefits around performance, scale, and ecosystem.

In this session, Philip and Rohan will introduce the Presto technology and share why it’s becoming so popular – in fact, companies like Facebook, Uber, Twitter, Alibaba, and much more use Presto for interactive ad hoc queries, reporting & dashboarding data lake analytics, and much more. We’ll also show a quick demo on getting Presto running in AWS.

Remember when you used to keep all of your data packed into data boxes and stacked up on a bunch of data shelves in your state-of-the-art data warehouse? Well, it might be time to fire up the data forklift and haul all of those boxes out of the structured order of your data warehouse and dump them into a data lake so that it can float and sink and swim around in semi-structured and unstructured waters. On this episode, Rohan Dhupelia joins the gang to talk about his thoughts and experiences from engineering just that sort of move at Atlassian. So, pop in your earbuds and strap on your data swim trunks and give it a listen!
