Nicole discusses environmental impact of proprietary software, why a Linux operating system could be a solution and where you can get help if you decide to switch.
In this talk, we're excited to show you how we built ScaleDown, a Chrome extension that makes your AI interactions more efficient and environmentally sustainable using prompt compression! As more people use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini instead of Google Search, few realize the massive carbon footprint each interaction generates. We will talk about our journey from recognizing this hidden environmental cost to creating a solution that is helping users reduce their AI-related emissions by up to 80%. Finally, we'll share how developers can contribute to our open-source Python package powering ScaleDown's prompt compression. Whether you're interested in improving our compression algorithms, enhancing our emissions calculation methodology, or expanding compatibility with additional AI models, we'll show you how you can get involved!
Explore how AI-powered coding tools like GitHub Copilot, Azure cloud platforms, and open-source technologies are shaping the future of software development.

With dozens of both open and closed source tools available at hand, setting up observability for your applications may seem like a daunting task. In this talk, Aditya will share his experiences with observability, and show some ways to get you a head-start on your journey. With a collection of open-source tooling, we will take a look at how observability can be made easier for Kubernetes and beyond. This talk will conclude with a demo that shows up some of the latest advancements in open-source observability tools.
Sweet Summer Child Score is an open source library to identify potential AI harms. A truism in tech is that we're good at asking 'can' we do it but not 'should' we do it. This library offers a system scan to quickly identify potential harms, and build the capability of relative risk assessment. SSCS does not explore the specifics of your stack or technical implementation -- instead it takes a step back to look at the ecosystem your technology will be deployed in, and the implementation choices which define the seam between your system and the broader world.

Discover simple yet powerful ways entrepreneurs can leverage AI technology, offering a unique perspective for newcomers to the field.
A 90-minute hands-on workshop exploring the FiftyOne computer vision toolset. Part 1 covers FiftyOne Basics (terms, architecture, installation, and general usage), an overview of useful workflows to explore, understand, and curate your data, and how FiftyOne represents and semantically slices unstructured computer vision data. Part 2 provides a hands-on introduction to FiftyOne: loading datasets from the FiftyOne Dataset Zoo, navigating the FiftyOne App, programmatically inspecting attributes, adding new samples and custom attributes to a dataset, generating and evaluating model predictions, and saving insightful views into the data. Prerequisites: working knowledge of Python and basic computer vision. Attendees get access to the tutorials, videos, and code examples used in the workshop.
