In 2018, the Music Modernization Act setup the The Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) which also makes it database of musical works catalog of song writer data public. Using this unprecedented treasure trove of songwriting data & modern local data tools, I ask the "question": can small data tools allow a single person to map the pop songwriter family tree – and connect the dots from kanye west to taylor swift?

Reece Griffiths – Field CTO @ Collibra

Abstract:AI promises transformation, but most enterprises are still held back by a blind spot: unstructured data. The documents, conversations, and content that hold the richest business insights remain locked away—unusable, ungoverned, and invisible to AI. This untapped treasure delays projects, derails accuracy, and creates governance risks.

In this exclusive launch session, Teresa Rojas, Senior Director of Product Management at Collibra, and Reece Griffiths, co-founder of Deasy Labs (now part of Collibra), will unveil Collibra Unstructured AI. They’ll show how breakthrough technology, combined with Collibra’s unified governance platform, enables organizations to finally move beyond the black box and unlock the hidden wealth in their data to power trustworthy, scalable AI.

One of the prerequisites for being able to do great data analyses is that the data is well structured and clean and high quality. For individual projects, this is often annoying to get right. On a corporate level, it’s often a huge blocker to productivity. And then there’s healthcare data. When you consider all the healthcare records across the USA, or any other country for that matter, there are so many data formats created by so many different organizations, it’s frankly a horrendous mess. This is a big problem because there’s a treasure trove of data that researchers and analysts can’t make use of to answer questions about which medical interventions work or not. Bad data is holding back progress on improving everyone’s health. Terry Myerson is the CEO and Co-Founder of Truveta. Truveta enables scientifically rigorous research on more than 18% of the clinical care in the U.S. from a growing collective of more than 30 health systems. Previously, Terry enjoyed a 21-year career at Microsoft. As Executive Vice President, he led the development of Windows, Surface, Xbox, and the early days of Office 365, while serving on the Senior Leadership Team of the company. Prior to Microsoft, he co-founded Intersé, one of the earliest Internet companies, which Microsoft acquired in 1997. In the episode, Richie and Terry explore the current state of health records, challenges when working with health records, data challenges including privacy and accessibility, data silos and fragmentation, AI and NLP for fragmented data, regulatory grade AI, ongoing data integration efforts in healthcare, the future of healthcare and much more.  Links Mentioned in the Show: TruvetaConnect with TerryHIPAACourse - Introduction to Data PrivacyRelated Episode: Using AI to Improve Data Quality in HealthcareRewatch sessions from RADAR: AI Edition New to DataCamp? This event was moved from 24 Jan due to the train strike. ---- Talk #1 📈🐛➡🦋🚀 Transform Your Business: A Roadmap to Being Data-Driven with Data Ops" Simon Pressler (Königsweg AI) Many organizations ask themselves: do we have a data treasure? - how can we find out and how do we start? In the current data-centric business environment, this question becomes increasingly relevant. Drawing from extensive experience in the field, this talk addresses those who are enthusiastic about data yet may find themselves at the outset of their journey, or uncertain about navigating their path to success. DataOps, an interdisciplinary field seamlessly integrates data analysis, software development, and system operations. This session aims to provide clarity and direction for unlocking the potential of your data assets, marking the beginning of a transformative expedition into effective data utilization.

Simon is a Data Scientist holds a Master's Degree in Comparative and International Studies from ETH-Zürich and a Master's in Data Science from the University of Mannheim. Outside of his professional life, Simon is passionate about long-distance hiking, a pursuit that showcases his dedication and resilience

Talk #2 ⚙️📈 Data Versioning with LakeFS and LakeFS-Spec Max Mynter & Jan Willem Kleinrouweler (appliedAI Institute for Europe) Data versioning, essential for reproducible Machine Learning, involves maintaining and accessing various versions of data sets over time. This talk highlights LakeFS, a tool enabling Git-like versioning in data lakes, and LakeFS-Spec, a Python library developed by appliedAI Institute for Europe. LakeFS-Spec, compatible with FSSpec-supported packages like Pandas, allows intuitive LakeFS interactions and offers advanced features like client-side caching and direct file system operations.

Max is an MLOps engineer at appliedAI Institute for Europe. He has a background in Physics and Social Sciences, spent some time as a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley’s School of Information, and had previous stints as a Data Scientist at an energy-tech start-up and at Allianz Global Investors as a Quantitative Risk Analyst. Jan Willem is the Head of ML Engineering at appliedAI Institute for Europe. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the VU University Amsterdam. Before joining appliedAI, he worked as applied researcher and portfolio manager in the fields of media delivery, mobile networks, edge computing, and IoT.

Talk#3 🛡️🤖 My Data Stays Here! Implementing AI Assistants in a Data-Saving way Hans-Peter Zorn (inovex) ChatGPT has become an integral part of many people's professional lives. Nevertheless, many companies are reluctant to provide their employees with enterprise chat solutions. In this talk, I will demonstrate various ways in which such a service can be implemented in a data-saving and data protection-compliant manner. Be it through a private endpoint in the Azure Cloud or open source models under your own control.

Hans-Peter works as Head of AI and CTO at inovex to help customers overcome their challenges - sometimes with the help of AI. He studied computational linguistics in Heidelberg and computer science at KIT. He then spent a long time working on speech dialog systems, natural language processing and big data architectures.
